Pirates want kids to get in the RV and chill out
And a people puncher sings Neil Diamond to help mental health. Or something.
Like this newsletter? Or the Depresh Mode podcast? Like how it all exists? If enough people donate, we can exist. If they don’t, the whole thing will shut down. Go here, pick a level that works for you, then select DEPRESH MODE from the list of shows. And thank you.
Melissa Villaseñor left SNL for her mental health
She was one of the more versatile performers on that show and easily the best impressionist but she’s gone because it was unhealthy. I often wonder, with a cast as consistently huge as that one and a finite amount of air time, how viciously unhealthy it must be around there.
“Yeah, it was my decision,” Villaseñor said about her “SNL” exit. “I gave myself a lot of time in the summer to think on it and kind of play out in my head if I go back. At the end of the day it was about my mental health. Last season, I had a couple of panic attacks. I think it was just… I was struggling. I always felt like I was on the edge of a cliff every week. And I was like, I don’t want to be doing that to myself anymore. And it’s not like the show was mean toward me or anyone. It was just how I handle things.”
OKAY, THAT’S GREAT, I GUESS, part 1
So this guy who punches people really hard in a sport where the goal is to render your opponent unconscious, he has a Neil Diamond cover coming out. And it’s supposed to help mental health. I thiiiiink.
Fury has said he has always felt a connection to ‘Sweet Caroline.’ The song has become a favorite among English fans at sporting events in recent years, with it played and being sung along to across various sports, from football and darts to cricket and the NFL.
100% of the profits earned from Fury’s debut solo single will be donated to Talk Club. The charity is a “talking and listening club for men, offering talking groups, sports groups and therapy to help keep you mentally fit.”
Fury has been open about his mental health struggles in the past and has used his status as one of the most successful fighters in recent years to champion mental health advocacy.
Do people buy singles?
How does that…?
What do they…?
Huh?
OKAY THAT’S GREAT, I GUESS, part 2
The Pittsburgh Pirates want children to get into an old RV and chill out.
Offered through AHN’s Psychiatry & Behavioral Health Institute, and led by a team of behavioral health specialists, the Chill Project uses mindfulness-based exercises to equip students, teachers and parents with an evidence-based, standardized approach to identifying, discussing and managing stress, anxiety and other mental health concerns.
Okay!
I can’t fault anyone for wanting to improve mental health. The specific efforts just don’t always make a damn bit of sense to me.
OKAY THAT’S GREAT, I GUESS part 3
This isn’t really a grammatically feasible headline:
JUSTIN BIEBER, SHAWN MENDES - BROS WHO PRAY TOGETHER ...Joint Church Visit After Ending Tours
Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes are takin' each other to church as they both take self-described mental health breaks ... which upended their individual tours.
The pop singers, who have a ton in common, worshipped together Wednesday night at Churchome in Bev Hills. It's unclear if they sang inside -- Justin has in the past -- but we're sure there wouldn't be any pushback from the congregation if they did.
My better nature: Hey, if people get help, that’s great. The pressures from that level of fame must be unreal and I’m glad these fellows put the brakes on and maybe sought some guidance through spirituality.
My worser nature: Pff.
